Maternity Photography

Sweet couple, first baby! A baby boy that will be born next month. They're on my baby plan so I will capture his first year. I just ordered some new props for baby boys that I will be using at his newborn shoot. Can't wait.

Mother to be had that glow! She looks so beautiful and serene.

Love the belly button jewelry and sexy clothes that we had for this shoot!

Maternity Photography

I love it when there is a child involved in the maternity shoot. This is Ruby @ age two waiting to become a big sister. I like to focus in on the child and put everybody's hands on the belly.

At first Ruby was very shy of me. I love this one of her clinging to her Dad's leg. Very adorable.

The Sugar & Spice Collection

A couple of weeks ago, I met with Rosa & Cody for a consultation about their maternity & newborn shoots. It was so nice to see two people so happy. This is a second marriage for both of them. Rosa has three children and Cody one. When Cody, Jr. is born - five kids in their family. They wanted to do a beach shoot for their maternity. After discussing my different packages, they picked The Sugar and Spice Collection. Which is such a good deal, 3 creative sessions, 25 desk prints any size, 25 digital images, 50 Birth Announcements, 1 wall print 20x24 and 20% discount off any additional prints for $1,299. Plus, they're financing it in 3 installments. I charge no finance charges. I make it more affordable. I'm always willing to work with my clients if they're on a tight budget.

Violette

My Grandmother's name is Violet so it was nice to have a client that is going to name her baby girl Violette. From the English word violet for the purple flower, ultimately derived from Latin viola. It was common in Scotland from the 16th century, and it came into general use as an English given name during the 19th century. I love tidbits like that. In honor of Baby Violette, purple was a big influence in her maternity shoot. Her Mom and Dad were a lot of fun to work together creating these images.

Zenia Drosou Photographer from Greece

I am fortunate to have a talented photographer assist me on this maternity shoot. Her name is Zenia Drosou, and she is from Greece. Zenia comes from a family of photographers, her Grandfather, Dad and Brother. They have a business in Crete and specialize in weddings. We met for lunch one day, and I was blown away by Zenia’s portfolio. Not only does she shoot wedding but she has photographed a lot of high fashion. I was excited that we would be doing some shoots together. Here is a combination of our images from this shoot. I particularly like Zenia’s image of the father and daughter with the mother in the background. That is wonderful candid moment. My favorite photo that I took is the one of the little girl hugging her Mom’s tummy. The light was beautiful at the park and just really enhanced our images.

This Sunday, Zenia and I are photographing a family and then next week a newborn. I am going to be so spoiled having an assistant that I will miss Zenia when she goes back home in April

Claudia @ Seven Months

What I love about my job are the friends I make during my journey as a photographer. I have been documenting Claudia’s pregnancy (see my blog entry for November 7, 2008), and we had a lot of fun along the way doing shoots at her home, park and beach. Here are some of my favorite images from last week’s shoot. I particularly like the one of her looking at the American Baby Magazine. I saw the magazine in her kitchen and popped it in the shoot.

After shooting at her home, we went for a sunset shoot @ Moss Point which holds special memories for Claudia as she used to live within walking distance.

The baby is due in April and we do not know if it will be a boy or girl. Stay tune until spring time when I do the newborn shoot.

Cassandra, Dave, Britton & Baby Ethan

This past Monday, I had the pleasure of photographing Cassandra, Dave and their adorable dog, Britton. Cassandra had the pregnant glow. She radiated happiness and looked so beautiful. This photo shoot was so great, Dave is very funny and he had us laughing. There is so much love between Cassandra and Dave, it was just so wonderful to see two people so crazy about each other. Cassandra wrote me an e-mail today and it made me happy that they had a good experience. Cassandra wrote, “Dave and I had such a good time! It was so relaxed and personal”.

I can’t wait to photograph them with Baby Ethan.

Baby Shoes

I love when photographs have a story behind them like this one with the baby shoes. These shoes were Kathleen (the Mother-to-be) when she was a baby. Kathleen’s mother saved her baby girl's shoes all these years, and at Kathleen’s baby shower she gave them to her as a gift. I wanted to do something extra special to emphasis the shoes, so in Photoshop, I used a filter that put a spotlight on them.

Twins!!!

Last weekend, I received the sweetest e-mail from a Mommy-to-be,

“When I saw your website, I fell in love with the
pictures and how natural and crisp they look. It made
me really excited that I even woke my husband from his
slumber ( He works as a night shift nurse!) to tell
him that I wanted to have maternity pictures taken.”

We talked on the phone and she loves the outdoors, the greenery, etc. She got married in the Philippines on the beach at sunset and wanted her maternity photographs to be outside, too! I immediately thought of Laguna Niguel Recreation Park for its ideal setting of trees, a creek and a lovely wooden bridge. I was thrilled because the last time I had made arrangements to do an outdoor maternity shoot at the beach, the baby came early!! I had bought a white parasol for the shoot, too! Now, I could finally use it.

I met them outside the park at a nearby Starbucks (there is one on every corner in OC), and we drove in to the park together. The Mommy-to-be had come prepared with props, a picnic basket and a lovely blanket to sit on. We had to work fast because it was nine o’clock in the morning and the light would be too harsh by 10:00.

I'm very pleased with how the photographs look from this shoot, romantic and dreamy! I have more on my website. Stay tune for the newborn photos because they’re expecting twins!!! My first time to photograph twins, and I can’t wait.
