Patricia Ann Designs

The first time I saw the blankets at Patricia Ann Designs, I was totally smittened by their uniqueness. Very contemporary, fun, soft and cool designs. I bought one of their blankets for a photo shoot. Since, I have purchased gifts from Patricia Ann Designs for my clients.

When the owners of Patricia Ann Designs, Shelley and Pat, decided to redesign their web site, they asked me to take photographs of their blankets & silkies with babies. Here are some of the portraits from those sessions with two adorable babies.

Patricia Ann Designs is located in Lake Forest in Aspan Plaza at 22762 Aspan # 205. Please check out their new web site by clicking on the link on my Blog. My photographs are on their new site along with my banner that connects to my site. It is such a thrill to be associated with such a high quality store and two wonderful ladies.

Jack

Jack is 15 years old and needed photos for acting. He is a theatrical actor and likes performing in musicals. It was a perfect summer day and we did the shoot at a park near his home. What I like about this image of Jack is it looks like a painting. The light is soft and not harsh because we did it late in the day. I never do an outside shoot unless it is very early in the morning or late afternoon or @ sunset because of the hard edge shadows.

For this photo shoot, I used my new Nikon D700 and a portrait lens.

Flush Mount Albums

This is a page from a 10x10 album that I am creating. It is a flush mount album bound with a panorama cover which comes with an album cover. The sisters are standing in front of this gorgeous wooden door at a home in Table Rock Beach (south Laguna). Doors make for interesting backdrops for photographs.

I like the creative process of making an album, selecting the images, deciding which ones work or not and then the time spent in photoshop. A lot of time goes in to it but the end result is an incredible treasure for generations.

Baby Drew

Baby Drew’s Mommy, Anne, contacted me when she was six months pregnant to do her maternity photos. Anne has two little girls and did not know the sex of her baby and wanted to be surprised but was hoping it would be a boy. Since Anne had her other two babies at full term, we scheduled her maternity shoot at the eight months. We were going to do her shoot at the beach during sunset. This would be my first maternity shoot at the beach, and I was really looking forward to it. I had everything planned out that Anne was going to wear white, and I even bought a white parasol but three days prior to our shoot, Anne went in to labor and had a baby boy!!! I was disappointed but happy for Anne. Here are two photographs from the newborn session of Baby Drew. I particularly like these two photographs. For me they evoke the strong bond between Mother and her baby. It is a very touching and tender.

Details

At a wedding one of my favorite things to photograph are the details. So much time and effort goes in to deciding what type of flowers, cake, candles, etc. to have at ones wedding. It is these details that create the ambience of the wedding and reception that I like to capture for the Bride and Groom.

Following My Bliss!!

Here is a photograph of me (many thanks Andrea of AMH Creative, my graphic designer, for taking this photograph) at the Parenting & Kids Expo this past Saturday. So many of my friends came out to give me support that I felt truly blessed.

It was a great exhibit; I met a lot of wonderful parents and their adorable children. My booth was next to mid-wives, Project Cabo. I could not be more fortunate because they’re opening a birthing center in Laguna Hills and are interested in displaying my work there. What a great opportunity for me. A friend once told me to “Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls.” That is what I have been doing. I feel grateful every single day to be doing something I truly love. To all my family, friends and clients, thank you for making my dreams come true.
