My life journey as a photographer enables me to meet some extraordinary people & to share life changing moments. Val was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and wanted to document this pivotal moment in her life. The photographs, I took of Val are some of my best work. She has the most soulful eyes, incredible bone structure and elegant hands. I really played with the light, moving it all around her during the shoot to focus on her eyes, face & hands. Valerie wrote to me after our shoot together, “I really appreciate you giving me the opportunity to do something empowering in a situation where I often feel very powerless.” The good news, Val is now a cancer survivor.

Baby Noah

I had the pleasure of shooting the maternity of this lovely family back in February of this year (see blog entry from February 19, 2009). Now they have adorable Baby Noah, and I spent an afternoon with them recently on our second shoot. Such a gorgeous bedroom! I could not ask for a better backdrop. Picture perfect family!

My Niece Brittany

My niece, Brittany, came to visit me last month. She lives in Oregon. It was fun hanging out with her. I have always loved taking photographs of Britt because she is very photogenic. I once took a photograph of her blowing bubble gum and it popped on her face, and she somehow made it look adorable!!

These photographs were taken @ Victoria Beach in South Laguna. I used to live within walking distance of Victoria Beach, and it a special spot for me as I spent a lot of time there.

I just love these expressions on Natalie's face. Her Mother was so happy with these photographs and is making a montage of the first 3 of the images for Natalie's bedroom.

Porter

I love photographing children for their great expressions. Most of these images of Porter are candid. The image of him on the wooden rail I took from below and the tide was very high, and crashed in to me. I was soaked but it was worth it. Look at that expression on his face. Priceless.

Michelle, Shon, Lauren, Ben & Will "A Day @ the Beach"

One of the great things about the internet, I have a lot of people contact me from out of state that are coming to California & want a family portrait. Last week, I photographed a family from Kansas. The kids were so well behaved and eager to be photographed, it was a real treat for me. I had along on the shoot another photographer, Julie Taylor of OC Sweet Photo. It gives another dimension to the photography as Julie got some great photos of them not looking at the camera. I received a sweet e-mail from the Michelle, the Mother, ”My kids have said several times how much fun they had and, "What a nice lady you are". That is what photography should be all about having fun & having memories of their trip to California forever.
