Family Photography: Laguna Beach Family Photography

I photographed this lovely family a week ago @ Emerald Bay in Laguna Beach. The Grandmother contacted me a month ago about their shoot as her Grand-daughter was going to be visiting from Reno. She wanted to capture this moment with photography. Her Grand-daughter is the apple of her eye. I love this images of her, very classic pose & the lighting is beautiful capturing the essence of this little girl.

Finland

My first time to Finland, and it was very memorable. I went with my boyfriend (who is Finnish) and his two daughters. It made it more special seeing where he grew up and meeting his family. We spent four days at his family's summer home near a lake. Went picking wildflowers & came across these flowers in boots.

View from hammock where I spent many hours reading Stieg Larsson's, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. So appropriate since I was very close to Sweden. Great series of books. Highly recommended!

Even in Finland, I'm shooting maternity! Couple are well known actors in Finland.

Following My Bliss!!

Here is a photograph of me (many thanks Andrea of AMH Creative, my graphic designer, for taking this photograph) at the Parenting & Kids Expo this past Saturday. So many of my friends came out to give me support that I felt truly blessed.

It was a great exhibit; I met a lot of wonderful parents and their adorable children. My booth was next to mid-wives, Project Cabo. I could not be more fortunate because they’re opening a birthing center in Laguna Hills and are interested in displaying my work there. What a great opportunity for me. A friend once told me to “Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls.” That is what I have been doing. I feel grateful every single day to be doing something I truly love. To all my family, friends and clients, thank you for making my dreams come true.

A Guest, a Hero and a Wedding

I was a guest at a wedding!! You can imagine it is very strange for me since I normally work weddings. This time I had the night off, a young man that I have known since he was a kid got married to a lovely young lady. Their story of their first date is like something you would read in a storybook. They were having dinner with mutual friends when a loud sound of car collisions interrrupted dinner. Greg ran out to the scene of the accident which was very severe and with the help of his friend they pulled the drivers and passengers out of their cars minutes before one of the cars exploded. Greg was a hero who risked his life, how could any woman not help but fall in love at that moment. Plus Greg is a fantastic, sweet young man.

So here I was at this stunning wedding at Arroyo Trabuco Country Club. I maybe a guest at the wedding but I took my camera with me. Discreetly, I took photographs before and during the ceremony. Trying my best to stay out of the way of the hired guns a.k.a. photographers and two videographers. Once the ceremony was over, I put the camera away and helped to celebrate with family and friends the marriage of these two special people.

Renaissance ClubSport in Aliso Viejo

A lot of great things have been happening at my end. I am most excited about my wedding photography business, Studio 656 Photography, which I started with my business partner, Ben Craig. We are lucky enough to be one of the preferred vendors for the fabulous new Renaissance ClubSport, a 174-room boutique hotel, sports club, and day spa that opened up in Aliso Viejo this past weekend.

Ben and I have been taking before and after photographs of the Renaissance for months. Here are three images of the Lobby in different stages.

I live in Aliso Viejo and this is a wonderful addition to our city. For more information go to http://www.renaissanceclubsport.com/aliso-viejo/home.do. or better yet go see it in person. They're located at 50 Enterprise in Aliso Viejo.

From Russia with Love

Back in May, I had a young man call me about purchasing a gift certificate for his girlfriend’s Birthday in June. They had never had professional photographs taken as a couple. After asking me lots of questions and having me send more samples of my sunset photography, he finally decided to go with me. This past weekend, we did a sunset shoot at Little Corona. They’re both from Russia, Miska and Natalia. They were so sweet and very much in love. We had a lot of fun on the shoot; they really got in to the spirit of the experience. It was high tide, so we got wet! Their photographs look fabulous and this one is my favorite, the look on Natalia’s face is lovely and serene & I like having Miska in the background out of focus.

Caden's Baptism

I had the pleasure of doing a photo shoot of my baseball baby a.k.a. Caden at his Baptism... I photographed Caden’s Mommy’s maternity session, and now Caden is on my Baby Plan. It is a great experience to be there to capture his first year. When I saw these three crosses in front of the Lutheran Church of the Cross, I thought they were remarkable. This was my first time to the church and such a coincidence I will be back there in October to photograph a wedding. Caden was surrounded by his loving parents, godmothers, aunts, cousins and his favorite photographer as we witnessed his baptism on one of the hottest days in June!!!

My Brother and Victoria Beach

My brother, Tobin, was visiting from Oregon. He decided to spend a week by himself with me (normally my sister-in-law and my nieces are with him). I took time off to hang out with my little brother. We went hiking, saw a movie, went shopping @ South Coast Plaza, and he cooked for me!! This is a treat for me since I don’t cook!!!

Yesterday, I took Tobin to Victoria Beach to take photographs of him at sunset. Tobin was a good sport as I practiced shooting silhouettes of him. I got some amazing shots!!! Here is my favorite from the shoot.

I dropped Tobin off at the airport today, and my home feels so empty here without him.
